The Tale of Hunkydory

The story began in a humble little wool and needlecraft shop in Preston, Lancashire. One day, the owners of the shop, Ann and David Newhouse were sold some unique peel-off stickers. Ann and David were instantly hooked on this new idea, and decided to extend the offerings of their wool and needlecraft shop into something far bigger.

In 2002, Ann and David introduced Cardcraft Plus as a mail order company which allowed consumers to order products direct to their door. However, Ann and David soon began to find it difficult to source enough quality products to fill their regular catalogues.

The in-house catalogue designers were also crafters, and had shown a real interest in designing their own papercraft products which quickly became best-selling items for Cardcraft Plus.

The passion for crafting ran in the family, and soon enough, sons Adam and Daniel Newhouse jumped on board to help the family business flourish. Before long, fellow retailers had begun to enquire about stocking our own products and so, in 2007, Hunkydory Crafts was born as a card making supplies and materials wholesaler.

Cardcraft Plus is still established as a mail order company today, and proudly stocks all the latest Hunkydory products. The humble little wool and needlecraft shop in Preston is now known as Inspirations, an award-winning 10,000 square ft craft superstore.
