Card Making Day is a day for creating handmade cards for loved ones and friends. Why not show someone how much they mean to you on this special day?

What is Card Making Day?

Every year on the first Saturday in October, we celebrate Card Making Day. Created in 2006, it is a day to encourage crafters and crafting! Card Making Day reminds us that the best gifts are those that come from the heart.

Let your imagination and creativity run wild, and make an idea come to life!

What are the Benefits of Crafting?

There are so many different crafting methods and techniques; from papercrafting, colouring, stamping, sewing and so much more and each is incredibly beneficial on our health and mind.

Take a look at some of the benefits crafting can bring for both adults and children:

- It promotes creativity and flexible thinking. The focus we use when crafting is an effective way to exercise the brain

- It improves your mood. Crafting helps to oxygenate the brain which promotes happiness

- Helps with hand-eye co-ordination. Crafting is very hands on thus improving this skill

- Increases social activity. Crafting is a great activity to share with others, helping you to connect with other crafters. This also increases your confidence and self-esteem

- Helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Crafting relaxes the amygdala – the part of the brain which is activated when you feel stressed. This generates mindfulness which decreases your anxiety levels

- Create invaluable gifts. Handmade gifts for friends and loved ones are treasured and appreciated forever.
