At the start of every New Year, many of us like to plan new goals and aims we would like to achieve throughout the year. Whether they are big or small, it’s great to have something you want to work towards.

If you’re new to crafting, or perhaps you’re a crafter looking for a new challenge, why not try our list of 10 crafting achievements to aim for in 2020.

Learn a New Crafting Technique

There are so many different techniques to learn within the world of crafting; from papercrafting, stamping, die-cutting, sewing, and many more! Which is your favourite? Make 2020 the year you widen your crafting skills and learn a new crafting technique.

If you love stamping, why not try making a die-cut card. If you love knitting, why don’t you try crochet? There’s no need to rush learning your new technique, you have all year! You may find a different way of crafting you enjoy.

Get Out Your Comfort Zone

As a crafter, it’s easy to stick to what you know, but getting out of your comfort zone and discovering new crafts is a great way to adapt and improve your crafting. Even if it’s little steps, it’s still progress.

If you craft for yourself, why not craft a card or project for someone else. If you craft by yourself, why not join a crafting group and enjoy the activity with others? There are numerous ways you can get out your comfort zone this year.

Attend a Crafting Workshop

Crafting workshops are fantastic for learning new crafts or helping you to improve your crafting techniques. Hosted by incredibly talented and fun crafters, you can learn so many things! There are all types of workshops suitable for everyone, from workshops for beginners and workshops for advanced crafters.

We offer a huge range of fantastic workshops at Inspirations, our craft superstore in Preston. It’s also a great way of meeting new crafters.

Share Your Fabulous Makes

Sharing your makes is a great way to get your crafting projects out there and for others to see the incredible cards and projects you have been busy creating. Social media channels are perfect for this, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

There are even numerous crafting groups you can join to share your makes and see creations  from other crafters.

Create a Crafting Blog

Blogging has been a popular trend throughout the years. Creating your own blog gives you the freedom to talk about and share things you enjoy – such as crafting! Many crafters have created their own blog to not only share their makes, but also enter their creations into crafting competitions.

The more successful your blog becomes, you may even receive free crafting products from well-known companies for you to review!

Create a YouTube Channel

Creating your own YouTube channel is also a fun way for you to share your makes. You can show other crafters your crafting journey and your tutorials are also a great way for new crafters to learn cardmaking techniques.

Raise Money for Charity with Your Cardmaking

Why not use your cardmaking skills for a good cause? Many crafters sell their stunning cards they have made at stalls and events; donating the money they have raised for a charity of their choice. Which charity would you choose?

Host Your Own Workshop

If you love attending workshops, have you ever thought or hosting your own? This is a great way to get your name out there. Showcase your crafting talent and teach new cardmakers some fantastic tips and inspiration.

Re-Vamp Your Craft Space

With a new year, you might find you want a new or re-vamped craft space. Have a clean out and get your craft essentials organised – our Premier Craft Storage is perfect for this. With a re-vamped space, you might find some crafty inspiration.
