When you craft, it’s inevitable to have lots of left over bits and pieces, whether that’s scraps of card and paper, sentiments or toppers.

To keep your craft room tidy and neat, it can be tempting to throw away these leftovers. But they can actually be very useful in your cardmaking stash!

To make it easier for you to take your papercraft stash further and make the most of your supplies, we have gathered innovative ideas from our talented creative team at Hunkydory Crafts.

Check out our top tips for what to do with your papercraft scraps and leftovers!

Storing Leftovers

It’s really handy to have a separate file or box for your leftovers to keep them together. This also means they’re easily accessible while you’re crafting. A4 storage boxes are a great size to store your papercraft leftovers.

If you’re a very keen crafter, you might prefer Hunkydory’s fantastic Storage Genie. The dividers are perfect to separate your leftovers into your own little categories, such as paper/card/sentiments or different colour schemes.

Gift Tags

Smaller scraps of cards can be the perfect size for making cute gift tags, so you can add a personalised handmade touch to gifts.

Hunkydory’s Tag punches create stunning tags quickly and easily, so you can spend more time decorating your creations!

Mat and Layer

Scraps can come in very handy for matting and layering, which will help your card toppers stand out.

Keeping your papercraft scraps will ensure you have a range of colours and patterns to choose from. So you’ll be sure to find the perfect fit for the card you are working on!

Sentiments and Toppers

If you’ve ever had a Hunkydory Topper Collection you’ll know how many fantastic die-cut elements you get on each topper sheet. Once you’ve used the elements you want on the sheet, make sure to keep all remaining elements as they could come in handy. It’s also worth keeping the backing sheet too, as they contain pretty patterns which you can use of for borders.

Shaker Card Confetti

Scraps of paper or card are perfect for creating confetti in your shaker cards! You can use a variety of different craft punches to create different shapes, such as hearts or circles.

Die Cutting and Stamping

Many of us crafters have a number of smaller dies or stamps in our cardmaking supplies. Small card scraps are ideal to keep and use with these to create your beautiful toppers.

Envelope Liners

Why not use your paper scraps to make pretty liners for your envelopes? Adding a liner is quick and simple to do, but can add a unique touch to your handmade cards..

Embellishments

Paper scraps can be used to add the perfect finishing touch to your cards. Torn edges add a beautifully rustic feel, or you could trim your scraps into borders or different shapes depending on what suits your card.
